Bioinformatics Models and Algorithms Course Offered Fall 2008

Biosecurity Science has been identified as an important scientific
focus area for the Laboratory and for the nation. Understanding
emerging and engineered health threats and developing tools to
further increase understanding and response capability will become
increasingly important in protecting humans and other organisms from
pathogens and disease (both naturally occurring ones and those that
could be used as biothreat agents). Bioinformatics is an important
part of Biosecurity Science, contributing to the abilities to
identify species of organism, to develop models of cellular and
systems functioning, and to understand the results of experiments.
This course will provide the background necessary to understand the
field and to begin to work in the field of bioinformatics.
